FAQ

What if I’ve never done flamenco?

Students new to flamenco or those who are returning after a long break should start with Level 1 classes. You can purchase a New Student 3 Class Package your first time to try three classes for the price of two!

Who can take flamenco classes?

Everyone! Women, men, children, teens & seniors. No one is too young or old to learn about flamenco dance and music. We believe that anyone can learn to flamenco dance, and we have classes for all levels from beginner to professional. See more information about financial and physical accommodations below.

What should I wear?

  • Flamenco shoes, or any shoes with a smooth leather sole and sturdy 1.5-2.5” heel.

  • Comfortable top or leotard

  • Full skirt or pants

  • Don’t have these things? Don’t let that stop you from coming to class! Wear anything comfortable that you can move in. We also have a small selection of shoes available to borrow. t

What if I have a financial barrier to taking classes?

Zorongo strives to make classes accessible by offering opportunities to reduce financial barriers. We offer a student discount of 50% off classes for current high school and college students. We also offer work-study opportunities to students who can help with sign-in, events, cleaning the space, or other duties in exchange for discounted classes or studio rental. Please email us at zorongoflamenco@gmail.com to ask about discounts and work-study opportunities.

What if I have a physical barrier to taking class?

We do not currently offer an all-abilities class but have offered this in the past. Please reach out to us with any accommodations you might need to take class, and we will work to find a class that is a good fit for you.

When do I know when I’m ready to move to the next level?

Progress depends on the ability of the student and how often they come to class. The more you attend, the faster you progress. We recommend attending at least once a week, but have opportunities to attend more frequently for all levels. If you aren’t sure which level is appropriate for you, please talk to your current teacher, or reach out to the School Director, Molly Stoltz, at zorongoflamenco@gmail.com.

What is the average age of students in classes?

The majority of our students are between 20 and 60 years old. That said, we’ve also had students from 5 to 90! We have a small youth class for ages 6-12 as well, but if our kids’ classes grow, we will add more classes for different ages.
