Harmony for Mayo Concert

  • Peace Plaza 1st Avenue Southwest Rochester, MN, 55902 United States (map)

The Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program is a series of free weekly concerts available to Mayo patients, visitors, staff, and the public. The program was generously funded in perpetuity by Rosemary Willson in memory of her husband Meredith Willson (1902–1984), who wrote the Broadway musicals “The Music Man” and “The Unsinkable Molly Brown.” (Meredith Willson Biography). The gift is made in gratitude for the couple’s care at Mayo Clinic.

The Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program is sponsored by the Mayo Clinic Dolores Jeans Lavins Center for Humanities in Medicine and produced by the Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester. The concerts are on Mondays from 12:00 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lips Atrium on the subway level of the Charlton building. Summer concerts (June-August) are held on the Peace Plaza outside the Gonda building.

The Dolores Jean Lavins Center for Humanities in Medicine supports Mayo Clinic’s primary value, that the needs of the patient come first, by integrating the arts and other expressions of human culture into the healing environment. The Center engages interconnected communities of patients, families, staff, learners, and the public to promote the artful and compassionate delivery of healthcare.
