THE BIRDS GATHER a Premiere Performance
November 12 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 2:00 pm, repeating until November 13, 2022
Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre is thrilled to return to The Goodale Theater at The Cowles Center with a premiere performance — “The Birds Gather.” This performance is an introduction to “Conference of the Birds,” an allegory written by Persian poet Farid ud-Bin Attar in the 12th Century.
The Birds of the world unite to choose a leader for the challenging quest toward the great Simorgh. In this Fall Forward Festival, choreographer Susana di Palma brings Zorongo dancers together with Hip Hop master Darrius Strong to begin a magical journey with original music by composer/guitarist Juanito Pascual.
Zorongo Flamenco is part of The Cowles’s month-long festival of shared evening performances that celebrates the incredibly talented and robust Minnesota dance community. As part of Week Three of the Festival, Zorongo Flamenco is honored to share the stage with these amazing artists as they present,
- Black Label Movement Artistic Director Carl Flink’s thrilling movement poem reflects the volatile energies released into his mother during chemotherapy. A prologue to Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible.”
- Crash Dance Productions extrapolates what happens when the private rites of teenagers get misinterpreted by the eyes of adults—to disastrous ends.
Zorongo would like to thank all our individual donors just like you for helping to make this performance possible. We also want to recognize our season and performance sponsors — Thank you!
